Members of the Month (March 2010)
Adam Camacho Adam Camacho is one of the top members of the volunteer committee. He was one of the few dedicated members on the morning of February 26, 2010 where he trudged through a snowstorm and made it to the Habitat for Humanity event. He project managed 2 volunteer events and attended the Hope Shop which only a few members attended to raise for the fight against cancer. He has also helped in all the events Sigma has hosted throughout the semester. His attendance was also present in the Women’s Hall of Fame event that was co-hosted by the society along with one other prospective member that evening. As a member he has shown true dedication through not only philanthropy but ensuring the success of the events by contributing his time and efforts. This is why he is the President’s pick of the month. Ali Shiriar He is a Senior at Baruch and he has a part-time job, but he was never distracted from contributing to this society. Ali was always there for the Volunteering Committee meetings. His passion for this society was recognized at the very first volunteering event of the semester, Veterans Affair Hospital. His genuine passion for volunteering was further reflected at the Junior Achievement event. He went on to co-project manage Habit for Humanity, and successfully coordinated the event. He went above and beyond in meeting his induction requirements, and volunteered to be apart of our first Sigma Alpha Delta Podcast. Ali is a very kind individual, who has heavily contributed to Sigma Alpha Delta and he has undoubtedly earned the title as the Vice Presidential Pick for Member of the Month. Ashley Kang Sigma Alpha Delta’s Alumni Database represents a bridge between the past and present. Through a sizeable collection of names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and professions, our members are given a window of opportunity to interact with and learn from each other. There has been no better individual to entrust with the integrity of that vital information than the Alumni Relations Committee’s member of the month, Ashley Kang. Since taking over the Director of Database position at the beginning of the spring semester, Ashley has done an excellent job of coordinating and guiding the efforts of our Database Team. She has developed a more organized template for contacting alumni and collecting their information, allowing the members of her Database Team to work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Ashley has also demonstrated an ability to effectively delegate tasks and hold her team to a deadline. With demonstrations of effort, skill, and leadership such as these, this second semester Sigma Alpha Delta member well worth recognition for her continued contributions to the society. Jessica Tobon As a dedicated, efficient and hardworking person, Jessica Tobon is the Events Management Committee’s March Member of the Month. She started attending volunteer events very early on in the semester, which include the Baby Buggy, Junior Achievement, NYC Rescue Mission and CCVIP. In addition, Jessica was a great help at the Spring Bake Sale. For the Oxford Debate, Jessica volunteered to be a biographer and worked at the sign-in table. She did an excellent job interviewing and writing the biography of Zainab Khan, a pro-choice speaker. By doing all this, Jessica has also met many other members of the society, which is strongly encouraged of everyone. Jessica is a wonderful addition to the Events Management Committee.
Jonathan Hartig There are many characteristics I look for in a good member. Hard-work, diligence, courage to try new things, charisma. These are not all the traits I look for in a good member but they should at least have a couple. On the other hand, Jonathan Hartig has all of these and more. From the moment I started working with him at Sigma’s first bake sale I saw a great member in the making. At all the bake sales he puts in so much effort that he end up out selling everyone. He has been one of the top promotions specialist and his skills are vital to every promotions effort. He has even taken up the diligent task of being the Newsletter Task Force Manager, spearheading Sigma’s first Newsletter of the Semester. It is for these reasons any more that the Public Relations & Marketing Committee recognizes Jonathan Hartig as April’s member of the month. Jeffrey Chen Jeffrey Chen is a very enthusiastic and committed member of the Sigma Alpha Delta. Despite the fact that he is in his third year of college, Jeffrey is still able to find time to aid in the many volunteer events that the volunteer committee has offered to our members. He has also been instrumental in both of the fundraising events the volunteer committee had held for Relay for Life, aiding us in raising over $300 altogether. Jeffrey has been a great addition to the committee, and we are proud to have him as our March Member of the Month.
Yenny Eng As my first pick for member of the month, I am excited and honored to choose, Yenny Eng. Yenny is a very hard working individual, who when assigned a task, tackles them head on. She was picked to spearhead a recovery effort to secure some website data that was lost during the transition to our new layout. This was no easy task, however, equipped with a can do attitude She went to work and from this experience, I knew she was a leader. On top of this project, Yenny is a graduating senior majoring in Computer Information Systems, who was able to find time to volunteer at numerous events, some of which include the Room to Grow, Housingworks Bookstore, and CCVIP conference. For these reasons, Yenny Eng is the March 2010 Web & IT Committee’s Member of the Month. Members of the Month (February 2010)
Faisul Mahmud As a part of the marketing committee, Faisal Mahmud has helped the society before the beginning of the Spring semester and on. As a promoter he has assisted with the promotion team in recruiting the 95 attendees of the Information Session. He has also helped out in the previous New Candidates Dinner even before he joined the society. Although he was not required to assist anyone until after the commencement of the semester, he has shown his dedication through his efforts. For his participation throughout the past month, he is the president’s pick of the month.
Jason Tong Jason Tong has been chosen as the Vice Presidential Pick for Member of the Month because of his hard work and dedication to the society. Ever since Jason attended the Information Session in the beginning of the semester, he exposed himself to as much of the society as he can. He heavily participated in the Sigma Alpha Delta Bake Sale. Jason has been active in meeting members, even outside of his committee. He took the initiative to project manage two successful volunteer events so far. He has left a positive impression in the society since the moment he has joined, which has earned him the title as the Vice Presidential Pick for Member of the Month.
Alan Wu One should never underestimate the value of good old fashioned persistence and dedication. The Alumni Relations Committee’s member of the month for February 2010, Alan Wu, embodies just that. A second semester freshman both within the college and the organization, Alan is a self-starter with a positive attitude. He never hesitates to ask a question or tackle the task at hand right away. His knack and enthusiasm for getting things done has netted him greater responsibility within the Alumni Relations Committee as he pioneers the Multimedia Director position, working with his fellow members to become an effective news source for our alumni. Alan continues to volunteer and serve as a biographer as well, recently completing a new alumni profile. Don’t let his mild manner fool you – this go-getter will reach for the stars.
John Chung As a person who is already extremely busy as the President of MUN, John Chung is still able to dedicate himself to Sigma and the Events Management Committee. Very early on in winter break, John became a catering specialist. Almost immediately, he stepped up and took the time out to learn more about the role. He worked together with the Vice Chair of Finance to help Sigma secure five catering bids, which seems like a record. John also attend an E-Board meeting, where he learned more about how the society is ran and gave his input on various ideas. John is a very outspoken individual, who is never afraid to ask questions or state his opinions about anything. Whenever I need help with anything, I know I can always approach John. John sets an example for the other members with his dedication, motivation, and commitment to the society.
Tiffany Gibbs As a committee Chairman, one thing I value above all characteristics is reliability. Many people say they have this trait but very few actually display this. One individual that I acknowledged very early on with this trait was Tiffany Gibbs. At our first Info Session, she was the first prospective member to approach me and immediately inquired about the time-consuming position of Internal Communicator. From that day on Tiffany has been my most reliable committee member. She is always present at the PRM meetings taking the committee minutes, which I must say make me sound a lot more distinguished then I believe I sound. She is always prompt when fulfilling the extra roles I assign her position. It is for this reason the Public Relations & Marketing Committee recognizes Tiffany Gibbs as February’s Member of the Month.
Matthew Connelly The Volunteer Committee’s pick for member of the month is Matthew Connelly. Matthew is a very hardworking and lively member. He is not only a freshman, but is also a part of the Events Management Committee. Matthew had signed up to become the project manager of the Bailey House Auction. Not only did he have to start work on the event fast, but to also get his co-project manager up to date. Needless to say, due to his firm work ethics and reliability, his event was a success. We would like to give him a warm thank you for everything he has done and expect great things.
Christian Iezzi The Member of the Month is supposed to dedicate individual members who have persevered through their contributions to Sigma Alpha Delta and their respective committees without loss of enthusiasm. Chris Iezzi embodies that principle not as a member of Sigma Alpha Delta but as an overall gentleman and a scholar. Since he had requested to be the Internal Communicator for the Web & IT Committee. In addition to gathering member information and organizing effective committee communication, Chris had spearheaded the first efforts to gather data for the reconstruction of the Inducted Members Section. His latter initiative above and beyond the duties of an Internal Communicator and proves Chris Iezzi never lost that drive to accomplish. Chris is a sophomore at Baruch College and is planning to major in Political Science, an appropriate field for a man of his caliber. But above all, Chris is a personable, amicable, and loyal guy with a penchant for the old-fashioned Italian style. For these reasons, Christian Iezzi is February 2010 Web & IT Committee’s Member of the Month, and we wish him well in his endeavors. |
