Sampad Ghosh
President’s Member of the Month

As a member of the volunteer committee, Sampad Ghosh had attended over 4 volunteer events which included both Housing Works, Bailey House Auction & Party, and NYC Rescue Mission. This was only one month into the society. As time progressed, he had helped out the Marketing & Public Relations Committee on a flyer for the event “Women’s Hall of Fame.” After serving on two committees knowing he was a committed member to the Volunteer committee as well as the Events Management committee, he had decided to help the graphics design team and had made an incredible flyer for the event. He also assisted in helping with the induction ceremony as well as the pamphlet within a week prior to the event. He has shown through his dedication that he has displayed his passion for helping this society. For being an arduous working and being committed to the society when in need, he is the President’s pick of the month.

Manuel Martinez
Vice President’s Member of the Month

I have chosen Manuel Martinez as my pick for the Member of the Month. He is someone who has really stood out to me. Manny has always been a solid support for our events. During the Careers Dinner, he was willing and ready to take on any task that was asked of him. Manny is unafraid to voice his opinions and concerns, which will assist the society in its growth. His persistence and hardworking character has really shined through as I have seen during meetings and when I’ve worked with him during the Careers Dinner. We feel very fortunate to have someone like him to join us and play a positive role in our successful semester.

Mohammad Awan
Alumni Committee’s Member of the Month

Strong positive impressions can go a long way towards building long-lasting and beneficial relationships. The Alumni Relations Committee’s Member of the Month for April, Mohammad Awan has demonstrated his understanding of just that. He has made strong positive impressions within and on the behalf of, Sigma Alpha Delta.

Despite his late entrance into the society amidst the lead-up to the most hectic month of the semester, Mohammad took to action right away, in order to ensure that he would get the most out of the experience. As a goodwill messenger, he wrote an excellent Christmas poem, which will be distributed to the alums when holiday season hits. He is responsible for editing one of this semester’s upcoming biographical profiles. Additionally, he has been a vocal advocate of Sigma Alpha Delta’s volunteering efforts, making the effort to aid babies, the blind, and the environment in rapid succession. Mohammad’s persistence, responsible nature, and continued dedication to service both inside and outside of the Sigma Alpha Delta will serve him well.

Maya Raszyzck
Events Committee’s Member of the Month

Maya Raszyzck possesses all the qualities necessary for a member of the month.  She is diligent, efficient, and determined. Though she works full-time and goes to school full-time, she is able to make time to attend all Sigma events and/or gatherings. She attended the Habitat for Humanity and the Bowery Mission volunteer events. At the Oxford Debate, she worked amazingly at the sign-in table.  For the Careers Dinner, Maya was a floater who readily took on any task given to her at a given moment. She always has a smile one her face and seems to enjoy what she is doing. In addition to all this she wrote an article for the first newsletter, which told of her adventures with Sigma Alpha Delta so far. Though this might be because she has a blackberry, Maya is always the first one to reply to emails and to notify me on the status of her attendance to events and meetings. One more thing about Maya is that she loves general meetings. I am so happy that Maya joined Sigma and the Events Committee.

Fana Garrick
Public Relations & Marketing Committee’s Member of the Month

Hard work is the greatest quality I can ever ask of a member. There are many people that say they are hard workers but not many people can walk the walk as much as they talk the talk. Fana Garrick is the embodiment of a person that walks the walk with needing to talk the talk. From the beginning Fana has been one of my hard workers. She started as both a promotions specialist and graphic design artist. At my request she became a full time member of our Graphic Design and started putting more work than I thought she would be receiving. She work on majority of all the flyers and was the sole prospective member to work on the graphic design template of the Newsletter. It is for this reason the Public Relations & Marketing Committee recognizes Fana Garrick as the member of the month.

Christopher Onate
Web & IT Committee’s Member of the Month

Christopher Onate’s hard work and dedication stood out from our first meeting. He has been extremely proactive in wanting to help out in anyway he can, even if requires that he learn a new skill. One example is the speed in which Chris learned how to create and post submission forms to the site, one quick run through was all that was needed! I cannot say enough about how Chris exemplifies what it is to be an outstanding member. It is for this reason the Web & I.T. Committee recognizes Christopher Onate as the member of the month.
